Resources for Preceptors
Stockton's system of faculty and staff preceptors is designed for a student to work closely with a faculty or staff preceptor to set educational goals and assess progress toward goals.
Students learn to build and implement programs of study that relate to what they want to accomplish while maintaining the overal goals of a liberal arts education. The Degree Works (DW) degree evaluation is used to check out a student for graduation. Preceptors should attend to each student 's DW before senior year so that all areas will show up as "met" on the DW evaluation when the final semester is completed. The indication 98% at the top of the DW evaluation means that all areas are enrolled to meet graduation requirements. No further action is required of the preceptor. A student will not meet 100% until all final grades are submitted. At the end of the term graduation applicants who are at 100% will be automatically awarded the degree by the Registrar. No student can graduate with an "I" or incomplete grade.
The advisors in The Center for Academic Advising look at all 91视频 who have applied and are not at 98%. Advisors will correct the Degree Works evaluation for 91视频 who have 128 credits but are 2 credits over in one area and 2 credits under in another area. Many transfer 91视频 may have this issue, but advisors will amend it. When a graduating senior has any areas indicated as "not met," both student and preceptor will be notified via email to complete an attached graduation resolution form.. The assistant deans also have graduation resolution forms if needed.
The preceptor will need to submit the graduation resolution form BEFORE the last day to withdraw from a class or the student will automatically be denied. Program coordinators and Dean's signatures are required on all resolution forms.
Preceptors can see which 91视频 have applied for graduation on their advisee list. You will see the following statements by student names:
- Applied for graduation
- Approved pending current coursework (student's Degree Works runs correctly at 98%and will be processed as such. No further attention is needed by preceptor.
- Pending Preceptor review. Preceptor will need to look at DW and attend to any graduation issues. Preceptor will be notified by email.
- If a minor is not running correctly on DW the minor coordinator will be emailed to attend to any graduation issues.
