Stockton No. 84 on U.S. News Top Public Universities List
Stockton to No. 84 among the Top 100 Public National Universities, according to the 2024 U.S. News & World Report College Rankings released Sept. 18.
Stockton ranked 84 out of 227 public colleges and universities in the nation and No. 159 of 436 on the Best National Universities list.
This is Stockton’s second year in a row in the national rankings. Previously, Stockton was included on the top 10 Best Regional Universities-North.
Stockton also vaulted 49 spots to No. 26 this year among the Top Performers on Social Mobility – National Universities. This category highlights schools that actively and effectively enroll and graduate large proportions of economically disadvantaged 91Ƶ awarded with Pell Grants.

Board of Trustees Elects New Officers
The 91Ƶ Board of Trustees new officers and approved the naming of the newest Atlantic City residence hall when it met Sept. 20.
The new slate of officers includes: Board Chair Nelida Valentin; Co Vice-Chair Nancy Davis; Co Vice-Chair Jose Lozano and Secretary Michelle Keates.
Valentin, ’86, of Trenton, was appointed to the board in 2016. She is vice president of Grants and Programs for the Princeton Area Community Foundation in Lawrenceville. She served as director of Cluster and Business Development at New Jersey Institute of Technology’s Innovation Institute and as executive director of the Newark Workforce Investment Board. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Studies from Stockton and a master’s in Political Science/Public Policy from Rutgers University.
Outgoing chair Raymond R. Ciccone of Surf City, a 1979 graduate, was recognized for his service. Ciccone was appointed
to the board in 2012 and has served as chair since 2020, helping guide the University
through the pandemic and the construction of the Atlantic City Phase II expansion.
His term expires in 2027.
Juan Diego Chaparro Villarreal, of West New York, was sworn in as the new Student Trustee Alternate. Former alternate Shalayby Parsons, of Salem, becomes the new Student Trustee.

Largest Crowd to Date at Hispanic Heritage Month Flag Raising
On Sept. 15 five years ago, Los Latinos Unidos (LLU) a bold new tradition at 91Ƶ by raising a Pan-American flag in front of the Arts & Sciences Circle.
The goal was to honor and acknowledge the Hispanic/Latino population who help make our campus the multicultural mosaic that 91Ƶ need to fulfill their potential of becoming culturally competent and globally-minded leaders after graduating. This tradition endures and only becomes bigger and better every year, as evidenced by this year’s Hispanic Heritage Month Flag Raising.
This year’s flag-raising is special as it is the first event coming out of the Cultural Heritage Awareness Month Planning (CHAMP) Committee, spearheaded by Jovin Fernandez, director of the Multicultural Center.

Get Involved Fair Highlights Ways to Connect
Ospreys about the more than 200 ways to enrich their Stockton experience on Sept. 19-20 at the Get Involved Fair on the Galloway campus. A variety of clubs, organizations and Greek life opportunities were just some of the many options showcased at the fair.

Men's, Women's Soccer Teams Remain Undefeated
The men's soccer team their unbeaten streak to six straight matches as the Ospreys defeated Haverford College by a slim 1-0 score on Sept. 20. Freshman Ernst Louisius scored the lone goal in the match. The Ospreys finally broke the scoreless game in the 54th minute. After a shot by Dawson Joseph was saved by Fords goalie Dylan Ioffreda, Louisius pounced on the rebound and fired in his second tally of the season for the 1-0 lead.
The women's soccer team also unbeaten through the first eight games of the season with a 1-0 victory on Sept. 20 over Moravian University at G. Larry James Stadium. The Ospreys also posted their fifth consecutive shutout. Logan Shaw scored the game-winner just 4:45 into the match, and the Stockton defense did the rest. Grace Tecce served a cross from the left side that found Shaw at the corner of the goalie box, and the sophomore knocked the ball home.
Field Hockey Wins Sixth in a Row, 1-0
The field hockey team an early goal on Sept. 20 and made it stand up for a 1-0 victory over Moravian University, the sixth straight win for the Ospreys. Stockton also recorded its fourth shutout of the season.
Sophomore transfer Makayla Alessi scored her first career goal for the game-winner. Alessi's marker came on a penalty corner with 13:22 gone in the first quarter and was assisted by Ameera Bilgrami.

Changes to the 2024-25 FAFSA
The U.S. Department of Education is implementing a major overhaul of the processes and systems that offer federal student aid, starting with the 24-25 aid year.
As our faculty and staff work closely with our 91Ƶ, we want to make sure you’re aware of the updates being made to the FAFSA, not only to inform 91Ƶ but also because these updates could affect some of your processes.
📅 Join Financial Aid staff from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 29, for a virtual presentation detailing the 24-25 FAFSA changes and how these changes may impact faculty and staff. During the presentation, questions faculty and staff may have after learning about the new changes to the FAFSA will be answered. All faculty and staff are invited to attend. For those unable to attend, the presentation will be recorded. Register for the event .

Please note that the 24-25 FAFSA will not be available by Oct.1, 2023, due to the updates being made. Students and families can expect that the 24-25 FAFSA will be available on or before Dec. 31, 2023.
