Honors College Receives Nobel Peace Prize Designation
Stockton Honors College 91视频 will get invaluable research and unique experiential learning opportunities after the University was one of just 16 worldwide to a Partners in Peace institution.
The designation is part of a new initiative between the Nobel Peace Center in Oslo, Norway, and the National Collegiate Honors Council (NCHC). The Partners in Peace initiative recognizes council institutions for the achievements of their honors 91视频 and faculty in creating, implementing and assessing curricular and co-curricular offerings that highlight the work of Alfred Nobel and recipients of the Nobel Peace Prize.
鈥淲e are very excited and thankful to partner with the NCHC, which allows us to connect with a wide range of 91视频 and educators who are passionate about making a difference,鈥 said Kjersti Fl酶gstad, executive director of the Nobel Peace Center in Oslo, Norway. 鈥淭ogether, we can inspire meaningful conversations about peace and foster a spirit of dialogue, collaboration and learning.鈥
Stockton joins schools in the inaugural cohort from all over the United States, including California State University, Los Angeles, and the world, such as the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands.

Center for Community Engagement Celebrates Student Service
Stockton community service and engagement with a week of activities that included a documentary screening, community murals, and participation in various service projects.
Organized by the Stockton Center for Community Engagement and Service-Learning (SCCESL), the week ran from Monday, Nov. 18, to Friday, Nov. 22.
"The Week of Engagement aims to focus on the value of community engagement within Stockton and between Stockton and our external community, reflect on our best practices, including the high impact of service-learning, and chart new approaches," Merydawilda Col贸n, SCCESL鈥檚 executive director, said.
The Michael B. Jacobson Board of Trustees Room provided an intimate environment for Nov. 19鈥檚 Celebration of Service event as 91视频 shared and discussed the service-learning projects that they worked on throughout the fall academic term and the impact that these projects had on the local community.

Council of Black Faculty and Staff Hosts 40th Annual Scholarship Award Dinner
The Council of Black Faculty and Staff at Stockton University four decades of community at its 40th Annual Scholarship Award Dinner and Dance on Nov. 14.
The event, held at The Carriage House in Galloway, celebrated the council鈥檚 longstanding contributions to Stockton by honoring individuals who have made significant impacts on advancing educational opportunities for African American and underrepresented 91视频.
In his opening remarks, President Joe Bertolino acknowledged the Council鈥檚 enduring legacy.
鈥淔orty years鈥攖hat鈥檚 40 years of commitment, leadership, and generosity from this council,
which has created brighter futures for so many Stockton 91视频,鈥 he said.
He further recognized the council as Stockton鈥檚 longest-established faculty organization, praising its mission to foster equity and inclusion on campus.
Since its founding in 1981, the council has awarded over $283,000 in scholarships, with $20,000 given this year to 91视频 at undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels.

SPOTLIGHT ON: SREELEKHA PRAKASH
Sreelekha Prakash, associate professor of Health Science at Stockton, is also the president of the New Jersey Public Health Association (NJPHA), where
she spearheaded the work on racism being a public health crisis. Her work resulted
in the poster, 鈥淓stablishing a Policy for Racism as a Public Health Issue,鈥 which
she at the American Public Health Association (APHA) Conference on Oct. 24 in Minneapolis,
Minnesota.
Prakash, a clinician, epidemiologist, and health science researcher, shared that Stockton is an organizational member of NJPHA. For the policy project, she engaged 91视频 from the University鈥檚 Master鈥檚 in Public Health (MPH) class she taught on the research work and evidence to support the policy.
鈥淭he NJPHA鈥檚 annual conference, 鈥楶romoting Healthy Neighborhoods through Civic Engagement for the Public鈥檚 Health in NJ,鈥 allowed Stockton 91视频 to engage in a panel discussion, as well,鈥 Prakash said. 鈥淭he keynote address was by the APHA president, and the panel participation of 91视频 Faith Strina, Melissa Ortiz, and Fallon Deully, with other public health 91视频 from New Jersey, was well acknowledged and appreciated.鈥

High Schoolers Invited to Join Campus Community
A typical Tuesday morning bustled with hundreds of prospective Ospreys upon the Sports Center for Nov. 19鈥檚 Latino Visitation Day.
All of them were ready to learn more about the various student organizations and departmental resources that create Stockton鈥檚 diverse campus community.
"We want you to know that, here at Stockton, you are not just a student 鈥 you are a member of a community that celebrates who you are and encourages you to reach your fullest potential,鈥 Michelle Puerta, an Admissions counselor who specializes in recruiting Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) 91视频, said to the crowd.
Latino Visitation Day is a beloved annual tradition that invites Hispanic/Latino high
schoolers from all across New Jersey to tour the Galloway campus, meet with current Stockton 91视频, explore student organizations, such as Los Latinos Unidos, and receive guidance
on what kinds of resources are available, including the offices of Career Education
& Development and Financial Aid.
Among those tabling were representatives from Hispanic/Latino fraternities and sororities, like Omega Phi Beta, which caught the eye of Oakcrest junior Isabella Rosario. Rosario, who plans to pursue nursing once she graduates, said that seeing the Greek life Stockton provides was her favorite part of the day.

Stockton Outscores Eastern 100-94
The men鈥檚 basketball team outscored Eastern University 100-94 in a fast-paced offensive affair on Nov. 21. The Ospreys sank 12 three-pointers and shot 18-21 (85.7%) at the free throw line in the victory.
A pair of Stockton players combined for half of the team's points by reaching career highs. Martin Anguelov poured in 33 markers, and EJ Matthews-Spratley netted 27 points.
Anguelov shot 11-15 (73.3%) from the field, including 5-7 (71.4%) from three-point range and also went a perfect 6-6 at the line. In addition to his 27 points, Matthews-Spratley tallied seven rebounds and five assists.
Eriq Campbell hit double figures with 13 points and Christian Armstrong-Thomas tied his career high and led all players in the game with 11 rebounds.

After starting the season with four straight away games, Stockton will play its home opener and NJAC opener on Tuesday, Nov. 26, by hosting Kean University at 7:30 p.m.
Stockton Balanced Scoring Downs FDU-Florham
The women鈥檚 basketball team led wire-to-wire, capturing a 72-58 victory over FDU-Florham on Nov. 20. Imene Fathi led four Ospreys in double figures with 19 points.
Stockton opened up the game scoring 12 of the first 18 points in the contest, led by Brianna Robinson with four of the markers, on the way to a 22-16 first period lead.
The Ospreys extended the margin to 43-33 at the break, on the strength on five points each in the second frame by Fathi and Katie Rausch.
The Devils made a run at the home team in the third period, closing the gap to six at 51-45 with 23 seconds left in the third quarter, but that was as close as the visitors would get. A three ball by Fathi made the lead 54-45 at the end of three.

The team will play two more home games, starting Saturday, Nov. 23, when the Ospreys will face Albright College. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
Three Ospreys Secure USTFCCCA All-Region Honors
Three cross country runners for USTFCCCA All-Region honors from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Erik Ackerman claimed All-Region recognition in men's cross country for the third straight year. Kayla Kass earned All-Region recognition in women's cross country for the third consecutive year and Amanda McNally collected an All-Region nod for the second year in a row.
All-Region status went to the top 35 finishers at the NCAA Metro Regionals, which Stockton hosted for the first time ever on Saturday. The Stockton men produced their best finish ever at regionals, sixth place, while the Osprey women's team also finished sixth.
馃弮馃攬 Ackerman qualified for the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships for the second straight year, joining Randy Wetzel (2002, 2000) and Abad Akhtar (2009-10) as Stockton's only two-time NCAA qualifiers in men's cross country. Ackerman will run in the NCAA Championships at noon on Saturday, Nov. 23, at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course in Terre Haute, Indiana.

Writing Reflections Bring Women Together
Over the course of the COVID pandemic, ten women used the art of writing to reflect on thoughts, feelings, anxieties and challenges that arose through a monthly online Stockton Center on Successful Aging (SCOSA) program called Diaries in Times of Crisis.
The authors came together on Nov. 16 to enjoy lunch, reflect on how different life has become, and receive copies of Diaries in Times of Crisis Anthology 2020-2022.
