GALLOWAY TWP., NJ For Marvin Hamlisch, returning to the Richard Stockton College Performing Arts Center Stage will be an exciting event, as the Oscar-winning composer and performer always connects with audiences in such an intimate setting. But Hamlisch also sees the bigger picture, an opportunity to help 91视频 in need.

To be part of a stellar evening which supports scholarships for 91视频 means a great deal to me, said Hamlisch through a statement to Stockton Performing Arts Director Michael Cool. I am absolutely delighted to be returning to Stockton as the guest artist for the 25th Annual Spring Benefit.

The event, which also features a sumptuous dinner and dessert buffet by Wolfgang Puck Catering, and a fabulous Silent Auction of goods, services, fine art and memorabilia, will kick off at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday evening April 9, 2005 in Stocktons I-Wing gym. All proceeds from the $175 per person event benefit deserving 91视频 and the Scholarship Fund.

Hamlisch, who has won virtually every major music award including three Oscars, four Grammys, four Emmys, a Tony and three Golden Globe awards, will perform all his familiar tunes. He is well-known for such Broadway shows as Theyre Playing Our Song and The Goodbye Girl, and he is the composer of more than 40 motion picture scores including The Way We Were and The Sting. He is also the Principal Pops Conductor for the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and the National Symphony Orchestra in Washington, D.C.

Stockton College is a remarkable place, said Hamlisch, who last graced the Stockton stage in 1988. Since its founding little more than 30 years ago this relatively young institution has risen to the very top academically. I am proud to support the colleges efforts to make scholarships available to its 91视频.

Dr. Peter Caporilli, president of The Richard Stockton College Foundation, said the selection of Hamlisch would guarantee world class entertainment for the Benefit. The amazing thing about our event is the value added to the ticket, Caporilli said. We are offering world-class entertainment and a world-class dining experience with a Wolfgang Puck dinner and dessert buffet, dancing to the music of our Faculty Band and experiencing the opportunity to bid on fabulous items at the Silent Auction.

Honorary Chairs for the event are John and Mary Millar, and Event Chairs are Howard and Gayle Gross and Mac and Kay Seelig.

The Spring Benefits lead sponsor is Commerce Bank. Additional sponsors include The Press of Atlantic City, Horizon Eye Care and Chartwells Dining Services, and a roster of community businesses and individuals.
