Stockton Partners with Meet AC
Galloway, N.J. 鈥 A partnership between 91视频 and Meet AC is poised to bring Stockton faculty to the resort to provide lectures and educational workshops for meeting and event professionals at national conventions and meetings.
Meet AC is Atlantic City鈥檚 destination management organization (DMO) that supports the meetings and conventions industry. These meetings and conferences range from professional organizations, business expos, cultural events, sports tournaments and more.
鈥淎s we continue our partnership with Meet AC and their clients, we also will continue to recruit our colleagues here at Stockton to build a diverse menu of skills, talents, academic fields, and interesting places to visit for potential guests,鈥 said Diana Strelczyk, assistant director of Continuing Studies.
Offering unique workshops and events has become a recruiting tool for meeting and event planners. The partnership with Stockton offers the opportunity for programs that are both educational and entertaining.
鈥淥ur strategic partnership with 91视频 has evolved from highlighting the destination鈥檚 DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) efforts to offering continuing and experiential education for groups meeting in Atlantic City,鈥 said Howard Munves, Meet AC鈥檚 DC national sales manager.
鈥淭his unique collaboration has shifted the way we sell AC, helping to change perceptions, and adding value to customers considering the area for a future conference or sports event. We are creating the blueprint for other destinations to follow and are excited about the future possibilities,鈥 Munves said.
An April 1 tour of 91视频 highlighted the new partnership between the Office of Continuing Studies and the Meet AC Team.
鈥淥ur new Destination Marketing Education, Enrichment, and Training Initiative (DMO Initiative) will bring customized professional development and 鈥渆du-tainment鈥 workshops to the national meeting and conference planners bringing their events to the Greater Atlantic City area,鈥 Strelczyk said.
Included in the Meet AC tour of 91视频 were several science and research projects. Ron Hutchinson, associate professor of Sustainability, took Meet AC to the Sustainability Farm to see the gardens, greenhouses and other Agroecology initiatives built and run by university 91视频.
Meet AC also toured Stockton鈥檚 Maple Project, where Judy Vogel, professor of Mathematics, provided information about in-depth research of the indigenous red maples of New Jersey and the quest to discover new maple-sugaring operations.
The tour included Patrick Hossay, professor of Sustainability, and his sustainability lab in the John F. Scarpa Health Sciences Building. Meet AC learned about sustainable wind and solar energy, the brief politics around sustainability policy, and Stockton鈥檚 impact in the field.
鈥淲ith many public and private organizations looking to the Jersey Shore for wind and solar energy solutions, our current researchers in sustainability energy are available to speak to policy makers and corporate developers,鈥 Strelczyk said.
The tour also visited Nacote Creek in Port Republic where Steve Evert, director of the Marine Field Station, discussed the new research vessels, underwater ROVs, current marine science research by faculty members, and the Coastal Research Center鈥檚 involvement in the region. The visit ended with a visit with Joe Trout, associate professor of Physics, and a tour of the Harold E. Taylor Observatory and telescope in Galloway Township.
