Thanksgiving to Go Feeds 900 in A.C. and Pleasantville

Atlantic City, N.J. 鈥 More than 125 volunteers dished up turkey, stuffing and all the fixings, including pie, to provide some 900 meals for Atlantic City and Pleasantville residents at the second Thanksgiving to Go sponsored by Princess, Inc. on Nov. 10.

thanksgiving to goThis year Princess Inc. partnered with 91视频 Atlantic City, which provided the location and volunteers to help package the meals. Tables in the new Residential Complex lounge were stacked with food prepared and donated by area restaurants and businesses including Caesars Entertainment, B&B Soul Seafood, Steve & Cookie鈥檚 By the Bay, Tomatoes, Dock鈥檚 Oyster House and The Historic Smithville Inn.

An assembly line of volunteers, including members of Princess Inc., Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated, Atlantic City Alumnae Chapter, and Stockton faculty, staff and 91视频, worked in shifts to package the  meals. Volunteers drove the meals to various apartment complexes and sites in the two cities.

Last year鈥檚 event fed about 600 people. Indra Owens and Automne Bennett, founders of Princess, Inc., a community service organization for teen girls, said they were grateful for the community support that helped feed so many more this year.

thanksgiving to go鈥淲e exceeded our expectations and we thank everyone who made it possible,鈥 Owens said.

Stockton鈥檚 Chief Officer for Academic Programming Michelle McDonald and Assistant Dean of Students Haley Baum coordinated the event for Stockton.   McDonald said it was just one of many activities Stockton participates in to support the Atlantic City community.
